The seasonal flu vaccine protects against flu strains that research shows will be the most widespread. We offer seasonal flu vaccinations for adults and children, aged 6 months and older. Vaccination is especially important for people at high risk of serious flu complications, including children, pregnant women, people aged 50 years and older, and people with chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, lung or heart disease.
For maximum protection against seasonal flu viruses, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommend that children aged 6 months through 8 years receive two doses of vaccine in the first year of vaccination. If your child has been previously vaccinated (meaning they received two doses in the 2008-2009 flu season or one dose in any other previous flu season), then only one dose is recommended. To learn more about seasonal flu and vaccination, visit the CDC’s website. Click here for pediatric recommendations.
Although the CDC recommends annual seasonal flu vaccinations, this vaccine does not protect against the novel H1N1 virus. Visit the CDC’s H1N1 information page for information on novel H1N1. The CDC recommends getting your seasonal flu vaccination now. Visit the Immediate Care Centers today. | ||||
